Federico Casolari is Associate Professor in EU Law and Deputy Head of the Department of Legal Studies of the University of Bologna (2018-2021). He serves as member of the Flying Faculty of the China-EU School of Law (CESL). He is also member of the International Research Centre on European Law (C.I.R.D.E.) of the University of Bologna and tutor at the Collegio Superiore of the University of Bologna (2016-2022). He is Director of the Master Programme in European Funds and Funding Projects Expert (MEFFE).

Federico Casolari’s main research interests are the relationship between European Union law and international law, the external relations of the European Union, the general principles of EU law, and the international & European disaster response law.

As regards this last field of research, Federico Casolari has been directing, co-directing and/or publishing many works, such as peer reviewed journal articles, book chapters, project deliverables and reports. He also holds multiple academic charges concerning initiatives and activities related to the subject at hand. In particular, he is Co-Director of the International Disaster Law Course (hosted by the Sanremo International Institute of Humanitarian Law and organized in cooperation with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies) and key teaching staff member, Jean Monnet Module "International and European Disaster Law" (Roma TRE University). In addition, he is member of the Editorial Committee of the Yearbook of International Disaster Law.
